Father of the Bride Speech Sample

To all our family and friends and the family and friends of my new son-in-law, Welcome!!

I would like to thank you all for attending this beautiful occasion, (Bride and Groom’s names) wedding day. I have lived a long time and had the opportunity to see many relationships in my day, and believe me, this is one of the strongest I’ve had the pleasure to witness.

To my baby girl, (Bride’s name), [looking at the Bride] yes you are still my baby, thank you so much for being a wonderful daughter. I am so proud of the woman you have become and I am grateful for the many years of treasured memories, too many to mention here tonight. Although I know we’ve had our ups and downs, especially in your teen years, I have always known you be strong in you resolve, loving and kind. Every day I thank God for bringing you in to my life.

And to my new son-in-law (Groom’s name): TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY BABY! [waving the finger at the Groom]

In all seriousness, (Groom’s name) I know you have (Bride’s name) best interest at heart, you will love her, you will support her through thick and thin, and listen to her problems even after a hard day. The father of the bride is supposed to offer the secret of a long and happy marriage. I don’t know if this qualifies, but it has always held me in good stead. My marital advice to (Groom’s name) is remember to listen……, just listen……, you don’t have to fix it, just listening is nearly always enough.

Now I wasn’t going to mention this but to tell you the truth, you are the only boy that (Bride’s Name) bought home that I even remotely liked. It must have been the way (Bride’s name) was with you, happy, content and always smiling. So you must be doing something right and I know that this will be the continuing pattern in the future. I pray that you will continue to complement each other and bring out the best in each other, I wish you every success. I also pray that you will both be happy and bless us with grandchildren when the time comes.

My wife (mother of the brides name) and I hope that you will continue to be a big part of our lives and remember that we offer a free babysitting service when it is required. (pause for effect).

On a more serious note, Marriage is a blessing, I truly believe that. I have been completed as a person by my marriage union with my lovely wife (mother of the bride’s name) and my marriage has bought me security, support and love these many years; and I wish you both the same happiness.
