How to be Expressive with your Wedding Flowers

You can let your creative instincts go wild while choosing the colors and blooms for the bouquets. Wedding bouquets for the other female attendants could either match or be in contrast to bride’s bouquet. To save yourself from spending too much on bouquets, make sure you order them weeks in advance. This is because the last minute deliveries usually cost more. It’s here that planning comes into play. Make sure you have the type and quantity of bouquets in your mind while you are planning for other wedding arrangements.

Garden Wedding Venues

Another fantastic way of curbing the wedding flower expenses is to hold the ceremony at a place that is already decorated with either floral displays or gardens with colorful arrangements.A garden wedding would be perfect choice, however keep in mind that you will need a contingency plan with an alternative location if the weather turns bad.

Wedding Planning – Which Month to Avoid?

Try to avoid the month of February for your wedding. February is a busy time for florists because of Valentine’s Day. In the southern hemisphere it is summer and a hot favorite for weddings, peak season for flowers and the demand is high for wedding flowers. In the northern hemisphere February heralds the end of winter and choice of flowers for weddings may be in short supply or are available at a premium price.

Creative Options to Save Money with your Wedding Flowers.

You can add more color, texture and interest to your arrangements and bouquets by adding fabrics. This can be a very cost effective way to incorporate different elements to give a stunning result. Think about using tulle, organza or satin ribbons to create texture and flare to arrangements and bouquets. You can also add fern leaves to add greenery and baby’s breathe to create another dimension. These are both effective ways to reduce the amount of flowers needed to get a brilliant impact.

Ceremony and Reception Arrangements Versus Potted Plants.

If you have a big wedding flower budget you can have beautiful arrangements and centerpieces everywhere. You can choose lees expensive flowers for your centerpieces like in the image. They look fantastic and have less expensive flowers like daisy’s and lots of greenery like in the image here.

Alternatively, you can also opt for large potted plants, such as palms and ficus, instead of expensive and bulky arrangements. Look into hiring potted plants and rose bushes as they look beautiful and the cost of hiring is a cost effective way to trim the floral budget. If you choose to buy potted plants for decoration at the reception, for example, they could make a unique and creative gifts that can be given as presents to your guests at the end of the big day.

Flowers do have an important role in every wedding but smart spending on wedding flower budget should be given careful consideration.

  1. A great post about cheap wedding flowers, but weddings are incomplete without a feast. If really want to save money then instead of flowers, use fresh fruit arrangements as centerpieces, they will not only look great and give the feel of fresh flowers but will also save some of your cost on eatables.

Sometimes simple ideas like yours can add another dimension to the wedding celebration!

Thanks for your input. It can be very difficult and expensive to get wedding flowers of a particular type if they are out of season.

Thanks for your comment, some food for thought.

  4. Recycle decorations whenever possible, such as moving flower arrangements from the ceremony altar to the reception entrance and using bridesmaid bouquets as table decorations.

  9. Hi there, great article. Antoher way of saving money on the flowers which you partly hit on is to plan your wedding carefully to follow another event in your church (such as easter) when the church will already be decorated. Speak to the church to see if you can use the flowers. It may help if you offer to make a donation towards the church or offer to take the flowers to the local hospital etc for them after the wedding.

If this doesn’t suit you can carefully plan your flowers for the service so that they can be moved to the venue straight after the service (this is what we are doing) and half the cost of the flowers.
